The Fly Arts Center/the Bedford County Arts Council recently announced a new project with the goal to save "Ole Red". The organization hopes to partner with a qualified individual or organization to restore a commercial Ford F-600 that was once owned and operated by the historic Fly Manufacturing Company in Shelbyville, TN.
Many of you many know (and love) the big red truck that resides on the grounds of The Fly Arts Center at 204 S. Main Street in Shelbyville, TN. It is estimated that the truck is from the 1960s and has long been a local icon.
"We would love to find a partner to help us bring "Ole Red" fully back to life at any capacity," stated newly elected President of the Bedford County Arts Council, Jody Barnes-Turner. "Whether the truck can be restored back to running order or if it can only be cosmetically fixed, we would like to give the big red truck the care deserving of it's local historical significance."
Fundraising efforts have begun for The Fly's "Save the Big Red Truck" project. You can donate now online at the official GoFundMe page. For additional information or to discuss how you can help save "Ole Red", please contact Jody Barnes-Turner via email.
