THE FLY CHILDREN'S THEATRE
Our Youth Arts program began with our two children's theatre groups, Metamorphosis and Emerge, which are designed to get creative kids immersed in the performing arts with opportunities to learn and grow in age appropriate environments.
Metamorphosis is an educational theatre group that focuses on teaching kids ages 5-12 the basics of putting together a production both on the stage and behind the scenes. Like a caterpillar creating a cocoon in order to grow and transition, this program will provide kids with the skills and inspiration they will need to grow in a community theatre setting.
Once kids become teens and begin to grow out of their "cocoons", they need an age appropriate place they continue learning. The Emerge group is designed to help participants ages 13-18 fine tune and further develop a variety of acting and production skills in all points of the theatre.

Each group participates in one stage production each year. Last season, Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon was produced by our Emerge group in February 2025, while our Metamorphosis group put on The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe in June 2025.

ACTING CLASSES FOR KIDS & TEENS NOW AVAILABLE AT THE FLY
Help your children develop their acting skills, while also helping them increase their confidence with weekly acting classes with professional film and television actor Ryan Sands.
​
MONDAYS
KIDS AGES 5-12 | 6PM-7PM
1-hour sessions to help introduce kids to acting on stage or camera. These weekly classes focus on building creativity and confidence in a fun environment.

TEENS | 7:15PM-8:45PM
​​​1.5-hour sessions to help teens both learn the fundamentals and sharpen skills in a collaborative environment for acting in the theatre or on film.
​
A design contest was held in which area kids and teens were asked to use their creative talents to develop logos for each of the the two theatre youth groups. Art by 16-year-old Alia Downing was chosen for the logo of the "Emerge" group. While, art from 8-year-old Ellie Newman was chosen for the "Metamorphosis" group.
