Youth Visual Arts Program Inspires Creativity
We are so excited to finally get started on our new Youth Visual Arts Program for the youth of Shelbyville. We invite you, your family, and friends to be a part of this wonderful opportunity!
The Youth Visual Arts Program engages the creative process through painting, drawing, sculpture, mixed media, photography, and digital art. We plan to offer a blend of traditional and modern approaches.
The program meets on the first Sunday of each month from 2-4 p.m., with the next meeting on March 1. Initial offerings will focus on beginner to intermediate artists, with a track for the Teen Group (ages 13–18).
Our Youth Visual Arts Program is designed to give young artists a safe, encouraging space to grow, explore, and develop their creative voice with guidance from professional artists.
Why art matters:
Art education builds creativity, confidence, critical thinking, and emotional well-being. Creative expression has been shown to reduce stress, strengthen connection, and support overall learning.
Planned programs include:
• Skill and technique classes (painting, drawing, mixed media, sculpture)
• Summer Art Camp
• Set design for Emerge and Metamorphosis productions
• Exhibit tours and guided critiques
• Mentorship and apprenticeship opportunities
• Volunteer and community-building events
To help us shape programs effectively, please complete the Interest Form. As a volunteer-based nonprofit, parent support is essential, and we’re happy to discuss volunteer opportunities.
Thank you for supporting young artists.
We look forward to this journey together!
