By providing a safe, welcoming, and accessible space, the Fly helps to bridge the gap between community members and essential government resources. The initiative reflects our commitment to unity and service — uniting people from diverse backgrounds and ensuring all members of our community have access to the support they need to thrive, according to Jody Barnes Turner, Fly president.
Andres Gonzalez began coordinating the event in early January. The two-week visit is expected to draw more than 800 people. Next week, the Mobile Consulate will be located at the Flamingo Plaza at 405 Thompson St. It is the most recent visit to the Shelbyville area by the Mobile Consulate in several years.
All appointments are currently filled for the Shelbyville event. Walk-in help is offered without appointment for those over age 60, those with disabilities, and women who are pregnant. For future Mobile Consulate services in neighboring regions, appointment can be made at the MiConsulado website ( citas.sre.gob.mx ) or by calling 1-424-309-0009.
