The first fiberglass horse statue will be painted by a Bedford County artist and then placed "on parade" for the public to enjoy.

Volunteers from the community gathered to help unload the first delivered fiberglass horse statue to arrive at The Fly Arts Center on Friday, September 12th. As the first in the Champions On Parade series, this horse will be painted by a local artist with a creative design honoring the 100th anniversary of The Fly building and the 50th anniversary of the Bedford County Arts Council.
The completed work of art will be unveiled during the Champions On Parade Unveiling Gala and Open House on Saturday, October 18th at The Fly Arts Center. All are invited to join in the fun.
After unveiling this special horse will be placed "on parade" in front of The Fly Arts Center for the public to enjoy. Throughout 2025, 2026 and 2027 more horses will join the parade to create a self-guided scavenger hunt for Bedford County residents and visitors to enjoy as they visit each horse and learn about our county's unique history and culture.
The Fly Arts Center is currently looking for design submissions from artists, horse sponsors and hosts and program sponsors. For all of the details about the Champions On Parade campaign, please visit https://www.flyartscenter.com/champions.
