Everyone is invited to the presentation of “The Christmas Star; An Astronomer’s Journey” conducted by Billy Hix. Hix, who is an internationally recognized educator, will present a program based on a scientific search for the Star of Bethlehem using historical documents and computer simulations.

The event is FREE, however tickets are required due to limited seating. Tickets will be available at the Library on November 1.
Do you enjoy astronomy or just looking up at night? Do you love the Christmas story about the star in the East? If so, you are invited to enjoy a performance of “The Christmas Star: An Astronomer’s Journey”. It’s a journey for all to enjoy.
Everyone is invited to the presentation of “The Christmas Star; An Astronomer’s Journey” conducted by Billy Hix. Hix, who is an internationally recognized educator, will present a program based on a scientific search for the Star of Bethlehem using historical documents and computer simulations. As part of the program, you will see a computer simulation of the night sky in Bethlehem over 2,000 years ago. You will see the night sky as it looked to the Magi.
Hix is retired from higher education and NASA. In retirement, he founded the Motlow College Foundation STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) Outreach Program and last year visited 131 schools conducting science programs. Hix’s programs have received global recognition. The Space Foundation of Colorado selected Hix as National Teacher of the Year. He was awarded the Master Outreach Award by the America Astronomical Society. In 2016-17, he was story and science advisor for Lifeway’s VBS program Galactic Starveyors. His work has been featured in magazines and PBS TV. He is also in demand as a motivational speaker across the US. In addition to his local outreach and the Space Foundation, he serves as a consultant to NASA and is an astronomer with the Von Braun Astronomical Society in Huntsville, AL. Hix is a passionate and entertaining educator who will provide an evening to remember.
