Do  you enjoy astronomy or just looking up at night? Do you love the  Christmas story about the star in the East? If so, you are invited to  enjoy a performance of “The Christmas Star: An Astronomer’s Journey”.  It’s a journey for all to enjoy.

Everyone  is invited to the presentation of “The Christmas Star; An Astronomer’s  Journey” conducted by Billy Hix. Hix, who is an internationally  recognized educator, will present a program based on a scientific search  for the Star of Bethlehem using historical documents and computer  simulations. As part of the program, you will see a computer simulation  of the night sky in Bethlehem over 2,000 years ago. You will see the  night sky as it looked to the Magi.

Hix  is retired from higher education and NASA. In retirement, he founded  the Motlow College Foundation STEM (science, technology, engineering,  and math) Outreach Program and last year visited 131 schools conducting  science programs. Hix’s programs have received global recognition. The  Space Foundation of Colorado selected Hix as National Teacher of the  Year. He was awarded the Master Outreach Award by the America  Astronomical Society. In 2016-17, he was story and science advisor for  Lifeway’s VBS program Galactic Starveyors. His work has been featured in  magazines and PBS TV. He is also in demand as a motivational speaker  across the US. In addition to his local outreach and the Space  Foundation, he serves as a consultant to NASA and is an astronomer with  the Von Braun Astronomical Society in Huntsville, AL. Hix is a  passionate and entertaining educator who will provide an evening to  remember.

Come and learn about the Magi and their journey. The program is free and open to everyone!
