Charcoal Drawing-The Basics

Charcoal drawing for beginners is an artistic process using various forms of charcoal on textured paper to create dynamic, contrast-heavy images with rich darks and highlights. It's known for being versatile and forgiving, as charcoal can be easily smudged, blended, and lifted with erasers to achieve a wide range of values and textures. Essential tools include vine and compressed charcoal, blending stumps, and erasers for both adding and removing charcoal to build form and create highlights.
